Dr. Stefan Kuprowsky is a Canadian naturopathic practitioner with
impressive academic credentials and a strong vision for natural medicine.
He holds a B.Sc. (Hon.) in biological anthropology from Trent University
and an MA in medical anthropology from UBC., where he specialized in the
study of Chinese medicine. Dr. Kuprowsky completed his education at the
National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, graduating
as a naturopathic physician in 1985.
In 1986, Dr. Kuprowsky founded the EcoMed Wellness Centre in Vancouver, one of the busiest and most progressive naturopathic clinics in Canada. In 1993, Dr. Kuprowsky was inspired to move his practice to Vancouver Island and develop The EcoMed Naturopathic Spa in Nanoose Bay. The Spa has grown into the first integrated naturopathic spa in North America. Since 1985, Dr. Kuprowsky has been an active member of the BC Naturopathic Association, the licensing organization for naturopathic physicians in British Columbia, which provides education to the public on the value of natural medicine and preventative healthcare. In addition, he served as President of the BC Chapter of Naturopaths from 1990 to 1992, and as the Canadian representative to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Kuprowsky is an innovator who brings leading-edge diagnostic and treatment techniques into his naturopathic practice. He was one of the first Canadian doctors to integrate the use of the German Vega Test, a non-invasive allergy testing method, and to use live blood cell microscopic analysis for in-office diagnosis of nutritional status. He has also incorporated into his practice has also incorporated Biological Terrain Analysis (BTA) for in-office testing of blood, urine and saliva samples to determine body acidity, free radical pathology and metabolic function. In 1995, Dr. Kuprowsky was one of a handful of North American doctors to attend the International Ozone Association convention in France and to learn the German method of blood ozonization for the treatment of cancer, AIDS and other chronic diseases. In 1996, Dr. Kuprowsky visited the Cuban Ozone Institute, one of the world's only full-time research centres studying the medical applications of ozone therapy. Dr. Kuprowsky lectures widely across Canada and the United Stated to both professional and lay audiences. His articles appear frequently in a variety of health journals and magazines, and he is currently working on his first book entitled EcoMedicine: Deep Healing for the New Millenium. Dr. Kuprowsky holds weeklong retreats on Vancouver Island at the Pacific Shores Nature Resort. The focus of these retreats is on the promotion of mind and body through the teaching of the basics of detoxification. Stress management techniques such as guided meditation, yoga, tai chi, and massage are also taught. The importance of a healthy diet in maintaining optimum health is emphasized, and a full complement of naturopathic therapies is offered. Dr. Kuprowsky is currently studying mind/body medicine with Dr. Deepak Chopra and is integrating Dr. Chopra's Eastern approach to medicine into his work at EcoMed. |
